The Morgana quilt features strip piecing in sunset shades cut into curved and echoing pieces. It brings to mind the optical phenomenon of a Fata Morgana; a mirage that creates duplicated and (sometimes) inverted objects. The term Fata Morgana comes from the name of Morgan le Fay, an Arthurian character who is associated in Sicilian folklore with sirens who lure sailors to their deaths with false images of ships and islands. Morgana was designed by Amber Elliot of Alderwood Studio. To learn more about her work and patterns, you can find her on Instagram at @alderwoodstudio or alderwood-studio.com.
