The design for this quilt is inspired by NASA animations depicting ocean surface currents. Ocean currents affect the earth's climate and biodiversity, and scientists study currents to better understand climate change. This quilt is part of a series exploring how I can illustrate mathematical and scientific concepts via modern quilting. "Currents" takes more artistic liberty than some of my previous works, but I wanted to show the dynamic nature of ocean currents rather than create a strict copy of a frame from an animation.
