I worked on this quilt a section at a time, choosing strips from my overflowing scrap bin and sewing bits together that pleased me. It was one of the most enjoyable times I’ve spent making a quilt. Getting into the flow and deciding what felt right to put in next was a delightful experience. I was in bliss. Being a creature of structure and perfect points, improvisation has always been a challenge for me, but this quilt was a breakthrough. I am now a convert.
