This is the third in a series of quilted wall hangings based on the curves and lines of the letter "Q." As I’ve been dissecting this letter and reassembling the cropped remnants to create new shapes, they’ve become a vehicle to make statements about the creative process. For this piece, I wanted to capture the energy of creating. The hand quilting was done with embroidery floss and pearl cotton. The open space of the central shape was used to showcase different options for quilting, including French knots. The background was a wonderful opportunity to create texture and add energy with the pink stitching emanating from the shape’s edge.
