I experienced the cassette tape life, when the chance of having your favorite tunes in one place was to record from the radio and hope that no one talked. When I saw the fabrics for this challenge, a nostalgia feeling rushed to my mind and I just new a Mix tape was about to be born! I used a big piece of paper and sketched the cassette tape, then, with colored pencils I filled in the spaces and finally "piece by piece" started mimicking the parts of the tape in fabric. I tested the most challenging parts with scraps until I was happy with the result. Using machine piecing and machine applique technique, I was able to make what I had envisioned. To give a little more depth, I used black 12 weight thread around some areas and finished the whole quilt with straight lines.
