This Improv Quilt was made using all six of the specially chosen solids from the Windham Fabrics, Ruby and Bee line. When I read that Ruby and Bee are the names of two little girls, I started to think happy things like hopscotch, bike riding and giggles. So I went on a trip down memory lane to my own childhood and remembered toasting marshmallows on a backyard fireplace with neighborhood friends. I really liked the black, burnt marshmallows and the challenge it was to get the just right amount of burn and to keep just the right twist on the stick to keep the marshmallow from dropping into the coals in one big melty mess. It wasn't always successful ! Well, that was all the inspiration I needed for this fabric challenge. Good memories and a joy to make!
