This quilt began from a bit of a slump. One of the ways I get through these times is to make small blocks on repeat until I have enough of them to start figuring out a design. I love the basic simple four patch block, and working with such a humble shape - the square. The repetition of shape allows me to play with color and value to create the design, thinking of where I want viewer to look and where the color combinations fade into the background. I invite you to view this quilt from a distance, or look at it through your phone, as the value play is the story I am telling here, and you can not se that from 3 feet away. I kept the quilting simple, as I didn't think it needed anything more complex. There is beauty in simplicity.
