I have food on my mind when I think about this quilt! When I doodled the shapes that compose Meringue, I immediately thought of the toasted, swooping shapes on the top of a chocolate meringue pie. With the idea of toasted meringue in mind, I searched for a golden through burnt toast color palette. I still see the sumptuous shapes of baked, golden brown, whipped meringue on top of a pie when I look at the finished quilt, but the crosshatch quilting in the curve stars also evoke sunflowers, which is another delightful food reference.
