"Hash Tags and Top Hats" is entirely intuitive and improvisational. I started it in a Nancy Crow workshop during which I explored a new way to approach improv. Instead of building one step at a time as I do in "Dancing With The Wall,", the design is built in layers. I began with the dark figures and then filled in the background behind them, completely backwards from my usual way of working. Ms. Crow gives general guidelines from which to work but the design is entirely personal. I love the way these characters are floating across the surface, old fashioned men interacting with current technology and not quite "getting it!"
