What started as a fun distraction during the early stages of the Pandemic turned into a 42 block sampler quilt. The whole quilt is based on the 1" quarter circle "Curvelets" templates by Jen Carlton-Bailly and the first blocks had rules: 8"x8", 4 full circles, 8 half circles, and 32 quarter circles. "Ruby Curvelets" is laid out in order of when the blocks were made starting in the top left and going horizontal. You can see the progression of new techniques as I tested ideas using the quarter circle block as the basis for different shapes and designs. I also added 1/2" quarter circle based shapes halfway through and carried them through to the end where they made up some of the most complicated blocks. All the fabric is Ruby Star Society so that the colours are consistent throughout, and the back is made up of corresponding selvedges.
