I was very nervous when Love Patchwork & Quilting asked if I'd like to create a modern bias tape applique pattern for their magazine. My response was, "Yes, I would love to... someday... when I feel more confident about my skills / when I've made a pattern before / when I have a great idea for a design..." But their lovely editor gave me the nudge I needed to go for it. I sketched one of the lucky potted Pilea plants in my living room and crossed my fingers as I sent over the design idea. According to feng shui experts, the coin-shaped leaves of the Pilea (a.k.a. Chinese Money Plant) will ensure the owner's abundant fortune. And sure enough, the magazine gave my Super Lucky Money Plant sketch the green light. Lucky me!
