As a nod to @Inktober, I spent the month of October 2020 making daily ink blots. These ink blots went on to become the templates for the appliqué shapes on this quilt. I really enjoyed the needle turn appliqué process, but the highlight of making this quilt came when the Instagram comments came rolling in! As I posted each finished block, people shared what they saw in these shapes. It was enlightening to see the variety of things that different people saw in the same shape! They became such a focal point of the making of this quilt, that I felt compelled to quilt them right into it. In fact, that guy in the upper right corner of the quilt became its namesake. What do you see? A miserable ghost or a piece of disappointed toast? See the comments at #inkblotquilt to read all the different interpretations of each shape.
