Through the sharing of our creations we are exposed to new skills, techniques and ideas. Often this inspires us to incorporate something fresh into the body of our work. This piece speaks to how quilters and, indeed, all artists and artisans, influence each other. Note that the blue stays blue and the orange remains orange in this quilt; they stay true to themselves. Rather than mimicking each other, each shape is influenced, and enhanced, by the presence of the other color. So too, when we are presented with different viewpoints and perspectives, we open thought to the great possibilities for experimenting and challenging our own creativity. This in turn leads to even more original work. And so we nourish one another's unique voice. The dotted lines were created with machine pieced strips which were dropped into the composition with reverse appliqué.
