Circles have played a central role in my 2022 quilts. Encircled: Containing Darkness was inspired by Jon Foreman’s @sculpttheworld beach/rock sculptures and the earthy palette of the Ruby + Bee challenge fabrics. As I was working on my design wall during a particularly negative summer news day, I noticed the blue and rust circles of the composition seemed to be containing and encircling the dark ones. I hope that positive movements can overcome some of the recent negative ones.
