(NGS005) Pop Beads

I was drawn to the simplicity of this design after completing a series of complicated quilts. I named this quilt Pop Beads because the negative space in the center of the quilt reminds me of those plastic necklaces. The design inverts the color placement in a half circle block making the exterior of the shape the focal point and the half circle the negative space. I hand quilted in dark blue thread that disappears in the background, adding another design element that draws your eye to the foreground. The bold contrast in the color palette and the strong geometry are offset by the softness and simplicity of the quilting.
