In 2022, I completed an on line class with Maria Shell. After completing two quilts with the variety of colored fabrics she recommends, I had so many small brightly colored pieces leftover. I decided to do the “what if” game to incorporate these crumbs into a quilt. Several years ago Steph Skardal had a linear quilt pattern using all solids in the MQS’s Modern Monthly newsletter. I pieced all the crumbs into 2.5” strips and used the navy solid fabric strips to highlight the brightly colored ones. I quilted in the ditch of all the seams on my domestic sewing machine. To finish the quilt I used bright red perle cotton to highlight the large “X” made by the strips. This was a challenge to piece the strips, but I am very pleased with the end result . Congratulations on the 10th anniversary of Quilt Con!
