In designing for the Modern X Challenge, I explored different shapes that could create an X. I liked the simplicity of two overlapping arrows and laid out 10 Xs to represent the 10 years of the MQG. More interest was added to the design by replacing some solid arrows with outlines and removing some arrows all together, letting the quilting lines imply the missing shapes. A bright, bold palette, including complementary colors and accent quilting, was chosen to emphasize the modernity of the quilt.
