This quilt is about all the things that we release or throw up into the sky to watch float away or sink with gravity to the ground. Streamers, balloons of all kinds, plastic bags, glitter, rice at weddings all fit into the toss up and away category. Why do humans do this? I don’t know, but it is oh so satisfying to watch a ballon float beyond grasp into the sky disappearing visually, but still out there somewhere in the air.
