I have been a musician all my life, but 22 years ago I turned to the visual art of quilting. Music is still a part of me, but instead of sitting at a keyboard, I am stitching away in front of a sewing machine! This quilt was made improvisationally after I studied with Irene Roderick and began "dancing with the wall." I started with two wonky black squares from my leftovers, cut elongated white circles and placed them in the center. The fat strip of gray connecting them was a flash of inspiration. I made more, along with the yellow LED lights in the middle. I did some strip piecing for the wonky black and white "beats" running across the top screens. The darkness of the "monitor" in the center balances the lightness of the two sides. Everything is pieced except for the two white buttons, which are machine appliqued.
