This quilt is titled “Colour Bar” and measures 72 inches wide and 82 inches tall and contains hundreds of different coloured fabrics with the majority being solids. Colour Bar was such a fun quilt to make, for weeks and weeks I made improv blocks not having any idea what the outcome would be. As I started the design process on my design wall I began to see a striking quilt come to life. I continued the improv process of piecing the colour bars together and created rivers of movement and texture until I was happy with the overall composition. I wanted to intentionally keep the quilting simple to not distract from the colour placement and used the channel lock system on my Bernina Q24 longarm to create straight line quilting with different widths for each line. Cheers, Peter Byrne.
