Liz Sorenson Brotten is the Managing Partner of the Minneapolis office of Foley & Mansfield and serves on the firm's Executive Committee. An experienced litigator, Liz leads local and national teams in defending product liability and toxic tort claims pending throughout the Midwest and across the country, as national coordinating counsel. Liz has tried cases to verdict in both Minnesota and North Dakota courts.
Outside of litigation, Liz also consults with clients on legislative and case management order initiatives aimed at the efficient management of mass tort litigation. Liz develops and leads innovative motion practice strategies aimed at controlling costs and minimzing risk in several jurisdictions as part of her defense liaison counsel role. A native of northwestern North Dakota, Liz also assists clients in agricultural and oil and gas industries with drafting and negotiating agreements vital to their business operations.
Liz is a leader in both state and national defense organizations. She serves on the Defense Research Institute’s Women in the Law and Toxic Tort & Environmental Law national steering committees. Locally, Liz serves on the executive committee of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association and co-founded its Women in the Law committee. An Academic All-American distance runner in college, Liz enjoys competing in races and traveling. She has completed the Boston, Chicago, and Twin Cities marathons.
