Do you have a basic understanding of LibGuides? Are you not an expert coder or website designer? Create transformative online spaces for your library without needing expert web design skills! Get strategies and techniques for improving the function and design of your LibGuide platform, including Springshare integrations, branding and marketing, and linked content. In 2021, UNC Pembroke’s Kara Oxendine (Interim Director of Technical Services and Systems Librarian) and Elizabeth Jones (Director of Instructional Services, Librarian) determined by evaluating the library’s usage statistics and user feedback that the Mary Livermore Library’s online LibGuides space was not equipped to handle the influx of online users from the past few years because it contained little linked content and was not easily accessible to students, faculty, or staff. After upgrading to LibGuide CMS, Kara and Elizabeth were able to reconstruct the entire library resources platform from the ground up in 6 months after evaluating a few examples of successful library websites and adopting successful design elements. We will demonstrate how we used LibGuide CMS and other Springshare products to create and design a user-friendly library website platform, as well as provide a clear step-by-step process to implementing this project at your own library.
