Frank Arko, MD is currently Chief of Endovascular Surgery and Co-director of the Aortic Institute at Atrium Health, Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute in Charlotte, NC. He spent five years at Stanford University as Assistant Professor and Director of Endovascular Surgery, and seven years at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center as Associate Professor and Director of Endovascular Surgery.
Dr. Arko earned his Bachelor of Science (summa cum laude) and his medical degree with (with honors) at Texas A&M University. He completed his internship and his residency at Scott & White Hospital, Texas A&M University Health Science Center in 1999. Dr. Arko completed his Clinical Vascular Fellowship in 2000 and his Endovascular Fellowship in 2001 at Stanford University Hospital in California. He completed a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at Stanford University Hospital in 2001.
He has authored 15 book chapters and has more than 140 articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals including the Journal of Vascular Surgery, Journal of Endovascular Therapy, and the Annals of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Arko has been a Principal Investigator on nearly every major clinical trial and has trained over 36 practicing vascular surgeons in the USA. He has done postdoctoral training for physicians from China, Japan, Australia, India, Brasil, Columbia, and Mexico. He is part of one of the largest practices in the US for complex aortic reconstructions with placement of first-in-man graft for complex aortic arch aneurysms.
