Dr. Peter Voorhees received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He continued his postgraduate studies with an internal medicine residency/chief residency at the University of Wisconsin. As a hematology-oncology fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he first developed an interest in drug development and early phase clinical research in multiple myeloma. He stayed on as a faculty member at the University of North Carolina as part of the Multiple Myeloma Program and became the program leader in 2007. In 2016, Dr. Voorhees joined Levine Cancer Institute / Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina and has been Chief of the Plasma Cell Disorders Division since 2021. He is a Vice Chair for the Department of Hematologic Oncology and Blood Disorders at Leive Cancer Institute and a Clinical Professor of Medince at Atrium Health / Wake Forest University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the development of novel therapeutic strategies for the treatment of multiple myeloma. He is a member of the International Multiple Myeloma Working Group, a member of the National Cancer Institute's Multiple Myeloma Steering Committee, and a Vice Chair for the Alliance Multiple Myeloma Committee. He has presented and published etensively in the area of drug development in multiple myeloma.
