Sarah Faris, MD is an associate professor of Urology at the University of Chicago. She completed her undergraduate at Princeton University, received her medical degree from the University of Michigan followed by urology residency at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Faris completed a GURS fellowship at the University of Iowa. Her practice focuses on male and female voiding dysfunction and reconstructive urology. Research interests include the role of antibiotics in prosthetics, urologic trauma, reconstructive surgery outcomes, women in surgery and education. She is dedicated to education and is the Urology Residency Program Director, Senior Consultant for the AUA Core Curriculum, ABU Oral Boards Examiner and on the SAU board of Directors. She is on the board of directors for GURS and serves as the Committee chair of Women of GURS. She started the Women Surgeons Committee at the University of Chicago focusing on career development, mentorship and promoting the careers of women surgeons. Her teaching and mentorship efforts were recognized as runner up for the 2024 AUA Teaching Award and winner of the 2022 University of Chicago Faculty Distinguished Leader in Diversity and Inclusion Award. She is committed to improving patient care and outcomes and was the prior Ambulatory Medical Director for Urology and Surgical Director of the DCAM Operating Room. Dr. Faris is a graduate of the AUA Leadership Program.
