Antti Kaipia, M.D., Ph.D., chief physician, Department of urology, Tampere university hospital, Finland
Dr. Antti Kaipia graduated medical school in 1993 and defended his thesis on activin and inhibin expression and function during spermatogenesis in 1994 at the university of Turku, Finland. After a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford university department of OB/GYN with research focus on hormonally regulated apoptosis, he started general surgery residency in Pori central hospital in Western Finland in 1997. He received specialty of general surgery and urology in 2002 and 2003. After 2003 Dr. Kaipia has worked in Tampere university hospital as deputy chief of urology and in Pori central hospital as surgeon-in-chief. Currently he is chief physician at the department of urology in Tampere university hospital.
Dr. Kaipia's research interests are andrology, prostate cancer, laparoscopic and robotic prostate and kidney surgery as well as penile cancer.
