Joel Berends, MD is a urology resident at the University of Michigan. Dr. Berends graduated from medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed his first two years of urological training. He is currently undertaking 3 years of basic science research as the Urology Care Foundation's inaugural Physician Scientist Residency Training Award recipient. His research interests involve finding new ways to delineate the mechanistic underpinnings and molecular identifiers of infertility. His primary research work utilizes cutting-edge techniques to explore the impact of cellular environmental stress on the formation of biomolecular condensates.
