Quoc-Dien Trinh, MD, MBA, is Chair of the Department of Urology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and holds the Frederic N. Schwentker Endowed Chair in Urological Surgery at UPMC.
Previously, Dr. Trinh served as Co-Director of the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Prostate Cancer Program, Section Chief of Urology at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. A high-volume prostate cancer surgeon and recognized leader in robotic surgery, he played a key role in expanding Brigham’s minimally invasive urologic oncology program. He also directed clinical operations for the Division of Urological Surgery, and was honored with Brigham’s Outstanding Citizenship Award in 2021 and the American Urological Association’s Young Urologist of the Year award in 2022.
Dr. Trinh founded the Prostate Cancer Outreach Clinic under the United Against Racism initiative—a virtual and in-person program designed to improve access to prostate cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment in underserved communities. The clinic’s success (>400 patients served) was featured in STAT and The Boston Globe in 2022 and led to new workflows incorporating community health workers and safety-net follow-up systems. This initiative formed the basis of his Executive MBA capstone at HEC Paris, for which he received the Best Capstone Memoir award.
Dr. Trinh has published over 700 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals such as JAMA, NEJM, JCO, and JNCI. He serves on the editorial boards of Urologic Oncology and Nature Reviews Urology, and previously held associate editorial roles at BJUI and The Journal of Urology. He is a recognized Castle Connolly Top Doctor and a Top Asian American and Pacific Islander Doctor, and currently serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the American Cancer Society’s Prostate Cancer Screening IMPACT ECHO initiative.
