This session will present strategies for successful emergency department pain management for patients with opioid use disorder. Approaches to combining multimodal acute pain management and initiation of buprenorphine or methadone will be presented. The different treatment options available for managing pain in patients with opioid use disorder, including IV buprenorphine, non-opioid analgesics (lidocaine, alpha-2 agonists, NSAIDs, gabapentinoids), ketamine, and regional anesthesia will be discussed.
