Renee Rizzo Fleming currently is President of PRN Managed Care Consulting Services, LLC. Her present areas of involvement
within various sectors of Managed Care (e.g. Commercial, Medicare Part D, Managed Medicaid, Self-Insured Plans and Health
Insurance Exchanges) include product & pricing/contracting strategy of pharmaceuticals including biologicals, biosimilars as well
as medical devices, clinical assessment of pharmaceuticals in development or being considered for development/in-licensing vs.
marketplace competition, medical & pharmacy policy surveillance and strategic consulting using payer research & reimbursement
analysis and employer group pharmacy benefit design & management.
Previously, Ms. Fleming held the position of Vice President for Corporate Pharmacy Services at HealthNow New York, Inc. (parent
company of BlueCross Blue Shield of Western New York and BlueShield of Northeastern New York) from January 2000 through
February 2005. During her 17 year tenure at HealthNow New York, Renee was actively involved in numerous managed care
pharmacy activities including oversight of formulary and drug therapy management involving pharmaceuticals covered under the
pharmacy and medical benefits, coordinating the P&T Committee, pricing & contracting, pharmacy network and pharmaceutical
manufacturer partnerships, provider, employer group and broker relations, physician education, benefit design, as well as disease
and health management activities.
Renee obtained her Bachelor Degrees in Nuclear Medicine Technology and Pharmacy and her Masters in Business Administration
from the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB). She is a past president and board member of the University at Buffalo
Pharmacy Alumni Association and is currently a member of the UB Alumni Association Board of Directors and the UBAA Executive
Committee. She serves as a Pharmacy School Alumni Ambassador, an IPPE pharmacist preceptor and is a guest presenter
addressing Managed Care Pharmacy concepts and career opportunities to the P1 and P2 Pharmacy students and student AMCP
group at UB. Renee also served as a representative on the Blue Cross Blue Shield National Council of Physician Executives and
the BCBSA Drug and Pharmacy Advisory Group.
Ms. Fleming is currently serving her third three-year term (2020-2023) on the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy
(JMCP) Editorial Advisory Board. Renee has been an active member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) for more than 20 years. She has served as Chair for the Special Projects Committee, Vice Chair for the Educational Affairs Committee and was a member of the
Professional Practice and Membership Committees.
