Thomas C. Pomfret, PharmD, MPH, BCPS is a Clinical Consultant Pharmacist Team Lead and the Postgraduate Year One (PGY-1) Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program Director at ForHealth Consulting at UMass Chan Medical School.
Dr. Pomfret has over 17 years of managed care pharmacy experience and has demonstrated expertise in the creation and implementation of clinical pharmacy programs as well as formulary and utilization management strategies for various Medicaid and commercial-based health plans. He has served as the Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program Director since 2014. Dr. Pomfret helps lead the health equity pharmacy efforts for the MassHealth Pharmacy Program. He serves as a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Health Disparities Advisory Group and is the AMCP representative to the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) Commission on Credentialing. Dr. Pomfret is also the Chair of the Cultural Diversity Committee at ForHealth Consulting, which supports diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts across the workforce, develops and administers educational programs and trainings, and advances DEI strategic efforts and goals for the organization.
Dr. Pomfret received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (Boston) and his Master of Public Health (Health Policy & Administration) degree from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. He completed a pharmacy practice residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. Prior to his current role, Dr. Pomfret held a faculty position at Northeastern University in Boston and has worked in both hospital and community pharmacy settings. His areas of professional interests include public health policy, health equity, outcomes-based clinical research, clinical pharmacy benefit design, transitions of care, and student & resident mentoring.
