How can you support action to reduce infant mortality? The Perinatal Periods of Risk approach (PPOR) was designed to assess and address high infant mortality rates by helping communities make full use of vital records and other data sources. It incorporates basic epidemiology and community engagement methods and aligns well with the Title V planning cycle.
This workshop will include a basic introduction to PPOR, what it takes to implement and what it delivers for communities. We will discuss how states have used PPOR analysis as part of their reporting and planning, and how states can support local use of PPOR. We will introduce the PPOR analytic methods in enough detail that attendees will be able to confidently request data, guide analysis, involve communities, and plan next steps. Attendees will NOT need to have previous epidemiology training.
