Global Health Film Night: Djäkamirr - Caretaker of Pregnancy and Childbirth

Join us for Innovation Hub’s Global Health Film Night, where we move our lens to an international view to learn about the work that’s being done in the maternal and child health field worldwide. We’ll have a screening of “Global Health Film Night: Djäkamirr - Caretaker of Pregnancy and Childbirth" a follow it up with a few discussion questions where folks will be able to share and learn from one another.

Djäkamirr - Caretaker of Pregnancy and Childbirth
Filmed in remote Arnhem Land in Australia, DJÄKAMIRR follows Ḻäwurrpa and Sarah on a unique journey through ancestral time, country, and culture. As mutual trust develops between the two women, they hope to empower Yolŋu and reclaim 60,000 years of birthing culture from the stronghold of Western medicine. This is their story of working with the community to pilot the training of djäkamirr- the caretakers of pregnancy and birth.
