Dr. Maria Paz Carlos is a program manager, health specialist, and a virologist with a focus on infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS, influenza and Zika. She has more than fifteen years of leadership and management experience in government and academia. Maria is currently a Project Officer for HRSA's Title V Program, and she also oversees the Zika Maternal and Child Health Services Program and the State Systems Development Initiative for the Jurisdictions. She holds an M.B.A. from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. and a Ph.D. in Comparative Pathology (HIV Vaccines) from University of California, Davis. She also has a Certificate in Clinical Trials Design and Management from University of California, Santa Cruz and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of the Philippines. Maria was accepted to attend the Public Health Leadership Institute Certificate Program from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Gillings School of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Public Health Institute.
