Carly Cotten, DMD, MS, is currently a second-year Pediatric dental resident at Nova Southeastern University. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology, Master of Science in biomedical sciences and Doctor of Dental Medicine degrees from the University of Mississippi. Her love for dentistry began at a very young age. She is a third-generation dentist and grew up watching her father, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, and grandfather, a Dental Anesthesiologist, provide superior care to their patients. She learned firsthand the compassion required for this profession. She has over 11 years working in the dental field, from working at Pediatric and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery offices to shadowing multiple practices, including Periodontics and Orthodontics. Her passion for Pediatric Dentistry began when she was an undergraduate. She worked as a dental assistant for a Pediatric Dentist and fell in love with the specialty. Her passion in the field of Dentistry has always been to learn and to better herself as a dentist and to provide high quality dental care to her patients with a focus on children with special needs. She feels that it is important to provide a positive dental experience, framework, and education to children and their families. Her goal is to implement this practice as early as possible to help guide them into a healthy dental life. After completion of residency, she plans to move to Columbia, South Carolina, to start her new career in Pediatric Dentistry!
