Dr. Ting Lu is a Professor of Bioengineering and Donald Biggar Willett Faculty Scholar at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He is also a faculty affiliate in the Institute for Genomic Biology, Department of Physics, Center for Biophysics and Quantitative Biology, and Center for Digital Agriculture at UIUC. Dr. Lu received his B.S. in Physics from Zhejiang University in 2002, and Ph.D. in Biophysics from University of California-San Diego in 2007. Dr. Lu’s research focuses on the design, analysis and engineering of synthetic microbial communities for novel cellular functionality programming, such as plastic degradation and food production. Dr. Lu has received many awards for his research, including ONR Young Investigator Award, NSF CAREER Award, Young Innovator of Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering, Merck Future Insight Prize, and Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.
