Research Assistant
Howard University
I am a 2nd-year Ph.D. student in environmental engineering at Howard University. My research focuses on protein enrichment from plant resources through a non-destructive tribo-electrostatic separation (TES) approach, in which no water or chemicals are used and the functionality and nature of protein are kept. This technique is a novel approach in the food industry, however it has been successfully appleid to mining and pharmaceutical industries. It employs a tribo-charging approach to selectively charge protein and carbohydrate particles, followed by separating them under the influence of an external electric field according to their acquired charge densities.
