Chronic and recurrent infections continue to present challenges for people with CF. While host innate and adaptive immune responses are required for elimination of infections, sustained or aberrant recruitment of immune cells facilitates increased tissue damage. In this workshop, we will examine the interplay of the host immune response with microbial factors and highlight relationships between cell-specific CFTR dysfunction, inflammation, and microbial ecology.
