  • It was great to welcome the Hon. Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development of Canada to the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto. We appreciated the opportunity to walk her and her team through the House’s facilities and showcase the many programs that truly make a Ronald McDonald House feel like home for so many families.  Kate Horton Tania (Tova) L. What an exciting day at RMHC Toronto! We had the honour of welcoming Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development, on April 26! 🏠🌤️ Joined by RMHC Toronto CEO, Tania Little, and RMHC Canada President & CEO, Kate Horton, Minister Sudds explored our facilities and engaged with our community. From meeting with RMHC Toronto School principal, Katie Doering, to sharing a conversation with a mom staying at the House, she immersed herself in our mission of supporting families. We're grateful for her visit and commitment to making a difference in the lives of families with seriously ill children. #KeepingFamiliesClose #RMHCToronto

    President, Martin-Brower of Canada Co.

As a Board Member at the Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario, I recently volunteered at the RMHC Family Room in McMaster Children’s Hospital. What really touched me is that after the morning coffee rush, four mothers had a chat at the kitchen counter. They were sharing their stories, laughing at times, offering each other comfort. It really moved me – how the RMHC Family room is a place where parents going through some very difficult times can find support by simply being together. Proud to be working for an organization that support my volunteer work! At Martin-Brower of Canada Co., we want to leave a better world for future generations. One of the many remarkable things about our team is our unwavering commitment to serving our communities.  The mission and values of RMHC CANADA supports our aspirations of driving positive change to Canadians. As such, we at Martin-Brower of Canada Co. are getting ready for #McHappyDay on May 8th. Mark your calendars!!! I hope I see you there to raise funds for an amazing cause. #Volunteering #McHappyDay

    Director, Operations at McDonald's

Community and family are two personal values that I hold near and dear. Sharing these values with the organization I work for not only increases my satisfaction at work but also provides opportunities to live up to them, every single day. I am honoured to sit on the board of directors at Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario because RMHC holds a special place in my heart and supported my family during a challenging time. My middle daughter, who lives with special needs, was born in Hamilton and spent a week in the neo natal intensive care unit. During our hospital stay, we were fortunate enough to benefit from the RMHC resources such as the Family Room and the Coffee Cart program.  It was a time that reinforced the meaning of “keeping families close” and got to witness first-hand the impact that RMHC can have on families in a time of need. Families like mine. McDonald’s is a great organization to be part of – for so many reasons – not the least of which is supporting local communities through volunteerism, community service, donation matching and so much more. McDonald’s purpose is to feed and foster community, and through the support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, team members have an opportunity to give back and, live up to this purpose in action. This volunteer month, I am reflecting on the big impact that small actions can have on communities. Knowing you are making a positive impact FEELS GOOD! And being part of an organization that gives back is an amazing way to strengthen team work, engagement and spirits.

Moneris has been involved with Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada since 2017 supporting their amazing mission of keeping more families together and close to their sick children in hospital. Moneris strives to create positive impact in every community we serve. We do this through partnerships with charities like RMHC Canada, that align with our corporate values and whose mission is to support healthy and sustainable communities.   In August of 2018, I stepped into the RMHC mission for the first time. My Moneris colleagues and I participated in the Home for Dinner program at Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto, BBQing burgers and making potato salad for the families staying in the House. It was my first visit to any Ronald McDonald House, and I was blown away by the facilities, the support, the warmth, and community the House provided for the families. The Home for Dinner program was a great opportunity to connect with the families and witness first-hand how a warm cooked homemade meal can provide families with comfort and ease during such a difficult time.    At Moneris we are committed to supporting local communities and encourage our employees to give their time volunteering to causes that are near and dear to their hearts. Every Moneris team member can dedicate one workday a year to volunteer at the charity of their choice. As part of our focus on volunteerism we organize corporate volunteer days for teams to get together to give back to our charity partners, like RMHC Canada. Volunteering is very important to me and is something I try to do throughout my life giving back to causes that I care about. When I volunteer, I feel more connected to the charities I support by being part of the cause and seeing how my work directly impacts the mission. I appreciate that I work for a company that values the importance of volunteering and makes it part of the employee engagement experience. #moneris #RMHCCanada #RMHCNationalPartner #NationalVolunteerMonth #volunteerism #MonerisESG

  • During National Volunteer Week, on National Volunteer Month, and every day, we are so grateful to RBC and its employees for their longstanding tradition of supporting RMHC across Canada. Thank you, Andrea McLane and RBC for all that you continue to do for families with sick children, across Canada.

SVP and Head, Corporate Client Group at RBC

Our team at RBC has been involved with Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada since 1986 through both regular annual donations and through employee volunteering at RMHC events such as Home for Dinners and our regional events. Our support for RMHC across Canada is longstanding – RBC and the RBC Foundation have donated, $8.1 million since 1981 with $3.3 million of that being since 2018. Together RBC and RMHC have a shared mission to support the mental health and wellness of families with a seriously ill or injured child and I am so pleased to see this relationship continuing to grow.   Our CCG team regularly volunteers with RMHC, and one of those ways is through serving meals for families staying at Houses across the country. In 2023 I had the pleasure of participating with the team in Calgary to make a dinner for the Calgary House. We had a lot of fun planning and preparing the meal, but it was the moment when we opened the kitchen to the families that was the most impactful. Even with everything they were going through, the families came in with this amazing energy and chatted with us while we served the food. We are hosting a meal again in Calgary on May 27th and I am looking forward to seeing our RMHC friends again soon!!!   Our purpose at RBC is to help clients thrive and communities prosper, and creating a positive social impact is integral to how we do business. Our team at RBC is guided by this purpose, it mobilizes us to create meaningful value in everything we do as a bank. I believe our values have always aligned with the mission of RMHC, to provide a safe and inclusive place for all, bringing people together in common cause to make positive change. RBC’s role as a leading business and brand comes with a great expectation to make a positive impact in the communities we serve and I feel that our organization does an amazing job of educating and supporting employees to do good in their communities. This Global Volunteer Month, and every day, I am inspired by the over 94,000 employees who do good by giving back to the communities in which we live, work and play by giving their time and talent.   Please don’t hesitate to reach out to learn more about RBC’s commitment to RMHC across Canada and other charities in the communities we serve. #rmhccanada #rbcfoundation #rbc
