Recent global scientific assessments from the IPCC and IPBES have demonstrated that transformative global change in human societies is possible and required to meet global and national goals for climate, biodiversity, and health. Recently Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) task force and models and scenarios has worked to developed an approach improve the development of scenarios explore possible pathways towards desirable future, that explicitly addresses plurality among people’s relationships to nature. I explain how the IPBES Nature Future’s framework was developed, how it has been applied, and suggest opportunities for future development and application.
