As a Principal for Quality and Clinical Strategy at Avalere Health, Shelby Harrington supports clients in navigating the transition to value-based care with a focus on clinical quality, strategy, and digital transformation. She applies her background as a nurse, as an administrator, and as a health tech product manager to give clients both broad landscape and deeply focused perspectives through different stakeholder lenses.
Before joining Avalere, Shelby led clinical product and strategy at Nurx, a direct-to-consumer telemedicine start up. She was previously senior product director for quality and regulatory technology at Premier, Inc., overseeing hospital regulatory products, provider registries, provider MIPS solutions, and the value analytics product line. Prior to that she was the director of clinical excellence for the Advisory Board Company’s Crimson Population Health suite, leading the deployment of evidence-based care plans in their care management platform and launching their population health quality reporting solution. She began her career at Carolinas HealthCare System—now Atrium Health—as a staff nurse in orthopedics and trauma before taking on progressive roles in quality improvement and patient safety leadership.
Shelby has a BA in public policy analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University.
