Elizabeth Joseph began her library career at the Yonkers Public Library after graduating from college. Her professional journey took her to NYPL and other urban library systems in New York before settling into a remarkable career at the Ferguson Library where her current title is Associate Director of Community Engagement. She was awarded the Paul J. Eicher Civic Leadership Award from Everyday Democracy in 2021. She has been on many ALA and PLA committees including PLA's leadership committee, EDISJ taskforce, and, Andrew Carnegie Medal of Honor to name a few. On a local level, she serves on the Connecticut Civic Health advisory board, Black Lives Matter community street mural taskforce, and works with the Greater Stamford Hispanic Chamber as a consultant on many initiatives. She was named Library Journal Mover and Shaker in 2015 for her work with local entrepreneurs. Elizabeth is currently the co-chair of APALA’s mentoring committee after being a mentor the previous year.
