County Librarian
Tehama County Library
A 2014 graduate of Emporia State Universities (Portland, OR Cohort) MLIS program, Todd Deck’s academic experience focused primarily on teens and technology. In his 10 years with Tehama County Library, his focus has been expanding the role rural libraries play helping those experiencing poverty. As Tehama County Librarian, Todd oversaw the design and move to a new library and modernized library website, updated policies such as creating a fine free program, and doubled staff size. These have resulted in increased circulation & programming.
Todd is active in the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table; Association of Rural and Small Libraries; and the Young Adult Library Services Association
Through his advocacy for rural libraries, Todd has been featured in several media outlets–most memorably in a Buzzfeed article on LGBTQ issues in rural libraries and NPR for the Tehama County Hidden Heroes project.
