Children's Librarian- Children's Services Coordinator

Carmen Boston is the Children’s Services Coordinator for DC Public Library. Prior to
this position she was a children’s librarian with DC Public Library. Before joining the
librarian profession, she was the Arts Education Manager for the National Assembly of
State Arts Agencies (NASAA). Through her work with NASAA, she worked with state
arts education managers across the country and was an advisor and manager for the
National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards (formerly called Coming Up
Taller) for the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. Additional arts
education management experience includes work for Washington Performing Arts
Society, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through
the Arts, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and VSA (National Office). She studied intensely
at Laban Centre for Movement and Dance (now Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music
and Dance) in London where she gained a wealth of knowledge that has supported her
work in teaching dance to different populations, and developing and managing
community arts projects. She regularly takes ballet, yoga and Pilates at studios in the
Washington, DC area. She has a master’s degree in library and information science from
Catholic University of America and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Mount
Holyoke College.
