Session Description: In this presentation, we will explore the value and benefits of using the arts modality that best fits the needs of the client, specifically those clients working on addictions. How does movement, visual art, clay, music, drumming, writing and mask making assist in gaining insight and help clients move towards healing? The workshop will be focused on the person-centered approach with expressive arts and will include an expressive arts process for a hands on experience.
Learning Objectives:
After this activity participants should be able to
Utilize the person-centered approach with expressive arts processes with clients.
will understand how different creative modalities will benefit the clients’ internal understanding and provide a way to process personal history, trauma, and individual difficulties related to addictive behaviors.
Provide expressive arts exercises to clients, offering another language to communicate externally the internal experiences necessary for insight, release and motivation to move through recovery.
