Recruiting, developing, and retaining a strong workforce are major keys to a successful behavioral healthcare operation. While the labor market for mental health and addiction treatment professionals has always been tight, recent trends have exacerbated the difficulties in recruiting physicians, nurses, advanced practitioners, psychotherapists, and other direct care team members. Competition for these providers is intensifying both within and outside the field. The Great Resignation and pandemic-related job stressors have impacted the relationship between employees and employers, and we may need new strategies to compete effectively.
