Ilya Goldberg has spent the majority of his career at the intersection of biology and imaging, and played a leading role in the development of infrastructure for image informatics and machine learning for bio-medical imaging. At ViQi, Ilya leads development of high-throughput imaging assays using machine learning. Prior to ViQi, Ilya co-founded a company that was the first to receive regulatory clearance for an AI-based diagnostic aid for lung nodules in CT scans. Before moving to industry, Ilya led a research group at the NIH National Institute on Aging that developed machine learning for image processing, applying it to study the basic biology of aging. As a postdoc at MIT, Ilya co-founded the OME project, which continues to be used for imaging infrastructure in large image repositories.
