Peter Schmidt studied process engineering and natural materials technology at Technische Universitaet Dresden from 2012 to 2019. In the specialization bioprocess engineering he dealt with several topics of laboratory automation. During his diploma thesis he developed a camera system for the identification of cell colonies morphology. Since completing his studies as a graduate engineer in 2019, he has been member of the SmartLab Systems research group at TU Dresden. There he is working as a project researcher on the field of Laboratory 4.0. As a contribution to the digital transformation, he is developing the modular laboratory system iHEX, which is improving work in the lab in various ways. In 2021 he joined SmartLab Solutions GmbH as Head of Product Development for the iHEX laboratory system.
