Research Fellow
The Francis Crick Institute, United Kingdom
Julian is a postdoctoral researcher working in RNA biology with a particular interest in neurological development and disease. He received first class honours from the Swiss Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) for his graduation in biological chemistry. Julian was awarded a PhD from the Pharmaceutical Institute at ETH in 2016 for his studies on RBFOX-microRNA interactions in the laboratory of Jonathan Hall. After successfully competing for a SNSF early career fellowship he continued studying RNA-binding proteins involved in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at the institute of Neurology (University College London) and the RNA networks lab (The Francis Crick institute) mentored by Jernej Ule. He has received multiple fellowship and scientific awards and published his works in peer-reviewed journals. In 2021 he co-founded bitomiX together with Christoph Sadee. BitomiX is dedicated to accelerate multistep biological protocols by developing innovative laboratory equipment. bitomiX was awarded multiple awards including the Francis Crick idea-to-innovation (i2i) grant and is part of iCURE cohort 38 (UKRI).
