Hello- we are Drs. Robyn Roth and Adrienne Rosenthal, Breast Radiologists/ Assistant Professors and Women's Imaging Fellowship director at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey.
Together, we are known as @theboobiedocs, our social media accounts where we discuss breast health in an educational and approachable way through educational posts, Tik Toks, and informative tweets. Over the past 15 months, we have increased our Instagram and Twitter followers by over 1000%. The majority of our followers are women who've been affected by breast cancer or are interested in breast health, as well as physicians and technologists.
Over the past year, our success on social media has led to multiple national television appearances including The Today Show with Hoda and Jenna, lecture invitations at prestigious hospitals and cancer organizations, as well as a popular podcast called "The Girlfriends' Guide to Breast Cancer, Breast Health, and Beyond." We also now have a team of 4 medical students working with us.
The purpose of this presentation is to show our evolution of our social media platforms, what's been successful, and how others can follow suit.
At the end of this exhibit, the viewer will:
• Learn how to stand out on social media and find your voice
• How to grow your social media following in an authentic and meaningful way
• Explain the differences between Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, and how each of them is important in reaching targeted audiences
• Demonstrate how we use social media to connect and educate both patients and physicians
• Show how to create a podcast (it’s easier than you think!)
